The company through the entrepreneurial skills of its founder has grown rapidly and forged ahead with one foot in the future but, with the other planted firmly in the traditions and values of the past. The ethos of the company has always been that of innovation, but innovation that will serve to its customers premium quality frozen at sea King Scallops.
The fleet of vessels owned by Scott Trawlers are all equipped with on board state of the art freezing plants ensuring locked in freshness and flavour. Scott Trawlers have from their inception always believed in 100% natural, wild product. Scott Trawlers product is all chemical free. No additives, no preservatives. Traceability and transparency of the quality of the product is a given to the customer. Scott Trawlers' product is all electronically traced from the moment of capture and this data is sent, via satellite, daily to Scott Trawlers using C-Trace's traceability technologies.
This is unique amongst the scallop catching fleet and typifies the forward thinking attitude of the management i.e. a clear focus to delivering premium quality frozen and fresh products with full traceability. Utilising the same technology for complete product traceability will pave the way to direct selling of the companies harvest in the very near future.
Scott Trawlers is first and foremost a family business. Founded and currently managed by Andy Scott in the early 1990's the business is run on the traditional values of integrity and commitment to its customers. Based in the idyllic surroundings of the South West of Scotland the company has grown from being a one vessel owner managed operation into a multi vessel vertically integrated operation that utilises state of the art technology to ensure that product is delivered with locked in flavour and freshness.
All the Scott Trawlers vessels are designed and built to fish for scallops only; although it does capture quality by-catch (Dover Sole and Monkfish) as part of its day-to-day operation. The company has chosen not to diversify into other species but instead, to concentrate and specialise in King Scallops (Pectin Max). It has been the belief that specialising on one species is what separates Scott Trawlers from its competitors.
